No doubt , teacher all over the world are low-paid people . ecause the world cannot pay for their services. There are several reasons for my choice. It is a nobel profession . The best people in the world are those who teach others. To me this is the only profession in which a man can serve his nation in the best possible manner. Engineers may build grand buildings,metalled roads , massive dams . doctors may treat th e patient and may put life into the dead; civil and military officers may boast of their services to the nation. But,are they not what their teacher have made them ? Mr. President Sir, A teacher is like a ladder which remains at its place,but helps others to go higher and higher. Instead of being an engineers a doctor , or an officer, it is better to be an engineer. maker,a doctor maker . It is only the men are made in the teaching institutions. Mr. President Sir, Whatever others think of my aim, I am satisfied that by being a teacher I can do much for my country in an other way. This aim is according to my taste and nature . But due to his parentsââ¬â¢ over guidance and lack of approval in the type of profession and things heââ¬â¢d like to choose, the child will have to revise his self-image and values somehow. He may decide that he is a bad boy for not wanting what his parents want; he may decide that his parents do not like him; or he may decide that he is ill mannered, he shouldnââ¬â¢t be so energetic, and that he is not interested in cricket after all. Effects of Compulsion Any of the forgoing choices will distort the childââ¬â¢s reality, for he is not bad, and his parents do like him, he is energetic, and he does want to become a cricketer. If he continues to do this sort of thing as his values are undervaluing and disapproving by others his self will end up divided against itself .He will feel as if he does not really know what he is and what he wants and he will be tense, uncomfortable, and out of sorts. For example, if a parent insists that a child behave like a ââ¬Å"nice little boyâ⬠in order to receive love and affection, the child will begin to value experience in terms of the parental image of ââ¬Å"nicenessâ⬠rather than in terms of his own individual reaction to them. His father was a successful civil engineer and his mother was a housewife. He did not start school until the second grade because he was able t o read before kindergarten. When Carl was 12, his family moved to a farm about 30 miles west of Chicago where he spent the rest of his adolescence. His parents were strict on him and made him do many chores. This is how he became rather isolated and self-independent. Carl went on to the University of Wisconsin as an agriculture major. Then, later, he switched his studies to religion to become a minister. During this time, he went to Beijing for the ââ¬Å"World Student Christian Federation Conferenceâ⬠for six months. There he decided that with all his new experiences and broadened thinking that he began to doubt some of this basic religious views. After he graduated, he married Helen Elliot, moved to New York City, and began attending the Union Theological Seminary, a famous liberal religious institution. This being the case, people should be aware that individuals do not need to undergo a lot of pain and suffering only due to cultural beliefs. The paper will explore Korean cultural approaches to death and dying. In particular, the paper will explain unique concepts with regard to the culture in relation to death and dying. It will also look at how the Korean Culture presents death and dying rituals, and the similarities and differences between that culture and American culture. Korean Approaches to death and dying The Asian Health Support Service (2004) notes that customs pertaining to death and dying are much dependent on a personââ¬â¢s age, religion, marital status, manner of death, status in the society and area of residence. These factors greatly affect the manner in which the Koreans perceive death and dying. They perform certain cultural rituals as a way of giving the bereaved an opportunity to abide by the set obligations of the deceased person (Asian Health Support Service). The Koreans have very strong family ties especially when one of the family members is sick. In this case, when one is admitted to the hospital, he receives many visitors who provide them with encouragement and consolation. At the time of being in the hospital, the patient is expected to have somebody by his or her side until the patient is ready to be discharged. In case the condition of the patient gets worse, the community prefers that the patient is discharged before his death so that he/she can be taken back home alive. It is also worth noting that the culture does not prefer a patient being admitted in a nursing home for care (Schwartz, 1997). This is because traditionally, the culture reveres dying at home so as to avoid the dead transforming into a kaekkwi (evil spirit). In this respect, members of the family make every attempt to ensure that any sick person is taken back home before he/she dies irrespecti ve of whether or not the patient is receiving treatment in hospital. The Korean people believe that it is a misfortune to bring a dying patientââ¬â¢s body home. However, doing so before his/her death is a sign of respect, as noted by the Asian Health Support Services (2004). For a long time, this belief was so engraved in the peopleââ¬â¢s culture to an extent that disobeying it was disrespectful to the deceased and the bereaved family. It is, however, worth noting that within the contemporary setting, the custom is dying off. The Asian Health Support Services (2004) notes that the Koreansââ¬â¢ way of thinking and cultural beliefs are changing drastically, and many hospitals in Korea have rooms established to shelter bereaved families.
